Christchurch Cultural Festival 2016

Last night (Wednesday 31st August) a group of children from Tāwhirimātea attended the Christchurch Cultural Festival to represent Rāwhiti School. The night was full of energy and the children buzzed with excitement.

For those of you wanting to watch the performance in full it will be available free through youtube on the Cultural Festival Channel

A huge well done to all of the teachers and children involved in making the Cultural Festival performance a success. You made Rāwhiti School proud!
Tau kē koutou! You're awesome!

Ivan's lego giant

my name is Ivan and this is my best creation I made in my mind just by looking at the picture. It took me a day to make him and an hour to make the head. It also was difficult to make the hand because I used Bionical pieces. (I'm good at building with Lego).

Mairehau High School Comes to Visit

Thursday 18th August
This morning Mairehau High School's music students came to visit Rāwhiti School. They performed a range of musical styles for us they even shared a few jokes and held a dance off. We all enjoyed watching the different performances, Taylor go to tell a great joke, Charlotte won the dance off and we all got excited to see Jacob's sister perform! To finish the morning off Rāwhiti said thank you to the Mairehau High School students through the performances of our rock band Liquefaction and our senior choir. Well done and a huge thank you to everyone who performed. We all had a great time!

One of the Mairehau students gets everyone to sing along to a Justin Beiber song.

Taylor shares a joke with everyone.

Charlotte boogies during the dance off.

Jacob's sister performs Lost Boys.

Lunchtime Arts and Crafts

Last week William got an Arts and Crafts book out from the Library which has some awesome activities. On Monday and Tuesday at break time William and I (Mrs Smith) worked hard to Quill a Lion. It took lots of time and we had to be very patient! We had to use the following skills; reading, measurement, communication, team work, quilling, trial and error. We learned so much and had so much fun creating it!
Watch this space for more Arts and Crafts from William and Mrs Smith.
